Mother Nature’s been on some serious mood swings these past few months and doesn’t seem to be ready to show any steady “normalcy” anytime soon. Spring and Fall have always been about layering, but I’m finding myself gravitating for more warmer layer than lighter ones this spring with temperatures in the mid-50s during the day as opposed to the high to mid-60s. With a touristy day planned in D.C., I piled on some texture with pops of color. Feeling oh-so-comfy and looking put together at the same time was the ultimate win. My favorite part was getting to wear a uniquely beautiful scarf that I bought in Nepal a few years ago (which reminds me that I need to go jetsetting soon).

Sometimes your outerwear needs a bit of jazzing up and the universe was hearing that when I scored this faux fur jacket from Zara for $50. I’ve been on the hunt for one for a few years, but I couldn’t bring myself to spend (in my standards) an extravagant amount and I didn’t want one that looked obviously inexpensive. I turned to thrift and second hand stores for a while, but they have a way of never having anything in my size (is every woman in NY between a size 0 and 6??), so I waited it out and I’m so glad that I did! I feel kind of ridiculous and fabulous at the same time with each wear and sometimes that’s just the way fashion goes.
Since this particular jacket sold out pretty quickly, I’ve rounded up my favorite alternatives:

Selected Selvia Faux Fur Jacket
Moral of the story: good things come to those who wait, but once you find the one, jump on it!

On a warmish winter day in the Northeast it’s sometimes extremely difficult for me to figure out how to dress for the weather. Coat or no coat? Tights or bare legs? Long sleeves or sleeveless?
Similar to fall, layering goes a long way when it comes to feeling cozy and weather appropriate. Winter decided to take a break last weekend and hit us with a bit of warmth. Spring is, indeed, in the air. I eventually decided on a sweater dress, a faux leather jacket, and leather over the knee boots for my transitional outfit as I strolled around the city with my boyfriend.
My favorite piece of the getup is the badass Calvin Klein boots that I randomly found these boots on major clearance at a Backstage Macy’s store (sadly, no where on the interwebs has it as cheap). Let me tell you, even though they do not look like it, THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR walking, and I spent my Saturday doing just that!

I am a huge color fan, but I often get into moods where black is my favorite color. This was one of them. I wanted something cute, quick, and simple for fall date night with my beau so I threw on a turtleneck dress, booties, and a long gold necklace. Black basics are so versatile, so even though I kept it pretty minimalistic here there’s so much that you can do with these pieces.

Getting dressed should be simple because – let’s face it – life gets crazy. I find the two best ways to do this are (a) a highly curated closet and (b) one piece staples like dresses & jumpsuits.
The holiday season may be the craziest time of the year with work, traveling, events, and gifting. This tomato red jumpsuit from Zara is a perfect space saver when it comes to packing and completely food-baby friendly with its crossover silhouette. I don’t have to think much when I throw it on, plus it’s a stand-out jumpsuit that doubles as a maxi dress from the front. Even better – it’s super affordable, but looks high-end.
Did I mention I’m in love?
I coincidentally had an old clutch the same shade of red as the jumpsuit, which I thought paired well without looking too basic or over-the-top. Adding in a black jacket and black shoes (pictures coming soon) pulled it all together without taking away any of the jumpsuit’s shine.
